There are a few things you can do to enhance your dating profile… because other than your pictures, that’s all that people have to go on, so you want it to be as simple, accurate and intriguing as possible.
1. Pictures—make sure they’re current and clear. People, I know me especially, would like to know who they are going to possibly connect with. You don’t need an obnoxious amount, but a few good photos will do the trick. The biggest no-no I can tell you when it comes to pictures is do not post a picture with a person of the opposite sex (or of the sex you’re trying to attract). Friends are sometimes ok, but for the most part people just want to see you. Action shots are great.. like photos of you wakeboarding, running, riding, bungee jumping, or doing something you love. Those give a little more info about who you are and what you like to do. Lastly, be classy not trashy… don’t show too much, you may come across as easy or on the site for the wrong reasons.
2. Profile—Be positive, truthful, sincere, flirty and intriguing. Do not include past baggage, this is a fresh start… talking about your past can yes, be a great thing, but your profile may not be the right time to share that much detail. If you do decide to share it, make sure you keep it positive. Be sure to share why you’re on the dating website, whether it’s for a serious relationship or if you’re just looking to meet new people and go on some fun dates. Either way, make your intentions known. Do not share when you would like to get married, how many kids you want to have, but do share if you have children. They are an important part of your life and will continue to be… even if you want your dating life to be separate from them. Use correct grammar, spelling and punctuations. Nothing says “I don’t care” like an adult using the grammar and spelling of a 9 year old. Finally, remember the acronym “K.I.S.S” Keep It Simple Stupid. Most people will look through your pictures, check out your tagline and read the first one or two paragraphs of your profile. The shorter the better.
